Career Counselling
Meaningful Occupation
Are you struggling to find your professional pathway? Are you unsettled in your choice of career? Are you unhappy in your work environment? Are you unsure of what you want as a job? Are you uncertain how to find out what would be the optimal work environment for your interests and personality?
Career counselling is taken very seriously at Family-Counselling services. While some people might just need a few consultations, but no inventories; others might do well with a vocational interest survey; and others really need the complete assessment.
We are qualified to use several assessment tools including the Jackson Vocational Interest Survey (JVIS), the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis (T-JTA), the Personality Research Form (PRF) and the Jackson Personality Inventory (JPI) in order to help the individual create a complete picture of their interests and strengths.
This process takes from 6 or 9 sessions and involves taking the assessment tools online. The counsellor takes an additional 2 to 3 hours analysing the information as it is collected and combines the results into a framework that is helpful and straightforward for the client.
What makes this process unique is that, in addition to comparing the individual's results with the general population, we also explore and explain the psychological roots of career choices and work styles, often providing a key to changing both.
